The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 is currently the fastest, most powerful, and most expensive street-legal full production car in the world, with a proven top speed of over 400 km/h (407.9 km/h or 253.2 mph),[1] though several faster or more expensive vehicles have been produced on a limited basis. It reached full production in September 2005. The car is built by Volkswagen AG subsidiary Bugatti Automobiles SAS in its Molsheim (Alsace, France) factory and is sold under the Italian/French Bugatti marque. It is named after French racing driver Pierre Veyron, who won the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1939 while racing for the original Bugatti firm. It is also the world's second supercar with 16 cylinders, after the Cizeta Moroder V16T.

Der Bugatti Veyron 16.4 ist ein Supersportwagen, der unter dem Markennamen Bugatti vom Fahrzeughersteller Volkswagen entwickelt wurde. Der Veyron 16.4 vereint etliche Superlative und Besonderheiten. Dazu zählen unter anderem die namensgebenden 16 Zylinder des 640 kg schweren Motors (430 kg ohne Getriebe), die Anordnung der Zylinder in W-Form, das 110 kg schwere Doppelkupplungsgetriebe mit sieben Gängen, die maximale Leistung von 736 kW (1001 PS), die Höchstgeschwindigkeit von 407 km/h, die vier Turbolader, der Maximalverbrauch von bis zu 100 Litern auf 100 km, das maximale Drehmoment von 1250 Nm und die Tatsache, dass die Beschleunigung von 0 auf 100 km/h 2,5 Sekunden dauert. Um das relativ schwere Fahrzeug auch wieder abzubremsen, werden Carbon-Keramik-Scheiben eingebaut, welche einen 100 km/h schnellen Wagen auf nur 31,4 m zum Stehen bringen.
